For National Volunteers Week we wanted to take the opportunity to say a huge thank you to TRAID volunteers past and present and share the stories of the people that generously give their time to support our work.
Today we say Thank You Gemma and find out about her experience volunteering at TRAID.
‘I’d been doing some interning in the fashion industry and I wanted to carry on learning and getting more experience so I walked into my local TRAID charity shop and asked. I wanted to get more experience in retail because it’s really not very easy to get experience, but at TRAID it really is, they’re really well known in the fashion industry so I wanted to have ‘TRAID’ on my CV.
Volunteering at TRAID makes me feel confident in myself, and in my ability to work. Having the experience and learning from the staff at the Peckham shop who have been doing this for a long time are teaching me, and I hope through volunteering I improve.
If someone was considering volunteering at TRAID? I’d say definitely just do it, and stick at it as well. A good life skill I’ve learnt is to stick at things!’
