TRAID has created a fun, short, education video about the socio-environmental impacts of our clothes!

Every year, we receive hundreds of requests from educators, businesses and communities to give talks, participate in events or run workshops across the country. As a small team we can’t always meet this demand. To address this, TRAID has created a short video about the problems caused by the production, consumption and waste of clothes, and the simple actions we can all take to make a difference.

This video was originally designed to be used in different ways: from introducing a busy clothes swapping or reuse event, to supporting schools or businesses launching a clothes reuse scheme, to providing educators embarking on a clothes reuse project with an easy to use resource. However, like every other aspect of our lives, the Covid-19 crisis has meant that what we planned or envisioned has temporarily been paused.

So for now, whether you are home schooling your children and want to unpack sustainability using real-world examples, or you want to use this time to find out about the powerful benefits of creating a more sustainable wardrobe, join me, Andrea Speranza, Head of Campaigns and Education at TRAID to explore the truth of clothes production, consumption and waste, and what we can do about it.

In these moments of isolation and uncertainty, it is more important than ever to strengthen the sense of community amongst activists and educators so that when this crisis draws to its close, we will be closer to realising a future that is better for everyone and the living planet.
