TRAID operates a network of 900 textile recycling banks in London, Southeast, Midlands and Northwest. Banks are located in a variety of locations including roadside recycling centres, supermarket car parks, local pubs and newsagents. They are conveniently located so that members of the public can donate their old clothes and shoes close to their home at any time of day.
Every week, TRAID drivers visit each of its banks to empty them and to make sure that the area around them is tidy. TRAID makes every effort to ensure that its collections have minimal impact on the environment. Our fleet includes Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) vehicles and we organise our routes based on geographical and efficiency criteria.
Once the donated clothing arrives at TRAID's warehouse, it is sorted according to quality and style for sale in one of the charity's retail shops. Every year, TRAID collects over 3,500 tonnes of clothing and shoes, 94% of which is reused or recycled. This reduces the need for landfill space in the UK.
